There are three capital cities in the regional government in the Azores, Ponta Delgada being one of them - serving as the seat of the executive government. The other two are Angra do Heroísmo, on the island of Terceira (the site of judicial branch - the Supreme Court), and Horta, on the island of Faial (the Regional Assembly).
Tourism
Ponta Delgada is the tourist heart of the Azores. The city, with its suburbs can offer pineapple cultivation, many famous festivities, a marina and a seaside walk with leisure facilities.
Bordering the north-western part of the city is the mountain range of Sete Cidades in which are located the valley and lake of the same name.
