Aveiro is a civil parish and a municipality in western Portugal. The parish dates back to the year 1208, when the area was settled by Christians. Aveiro is part of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, and one of the most populous towns in Portugal. It is located across from the city of Almada at the end of Rio Tejo (Tagus river).
There are many different leisure and sports facilities in Oeiras, such as the sports complex of Jamor, the Maritime Walk (a seaside promenade), many parks and gardens and the modern marina - prepared to welcome sixty ships.
