Loulé is a city and a municipality in the Algarve in southern Portugal. Loulé is an important rural administrative town. Due to the demands of the tourism this town has blossomed in size. Loulé is also a very active market town - the weekly fair attracts tourists from all over the Algarve.
Not too far away from Loulé is the village of Querença with its stalactite caves. Also, the village of Salir, with ruins of a castle and two 800 meters long walls from the Neolithic period.
Another attraction in Loulé is the annual Carnival in February. With its colourful procession around the centre of the city - it is considered one of the best in Portugal! |
