Aveiro is located in the central Portugal - in region Centro - a region of diversified landscapes.
There is the coastal plain with golden beaches
(Silver Coast)
- well known and favored by surfers from all over the world!
Here you will also find some of the best golf courses in Europe.
There is also the mountainous inland - dominated by the Serra da Estrela mountain. The green, rugged landscape
of this region is crisscrossed by rivers.
Outdoor activities are fishing, horse-back riding, hiking, tennis and canoeing (and, in the Winter season,
skiing in Serra da Estrela).

Aveiro is a city and a municipality in western Portugal. It is the second most populous city in the Centro region, after Coimbra.
The city dates back at least to the 10th century when it was known by its first Latin name of Aviarium, literally this means: a gathering place of birds.
Located on the shore of theAtlantic Ocean, Aveiro is an important seaport and a industrial city. Aveiro is famous for its production of salt and for its seaweed harvest, which is used for fertiliser in the area.
Aveiro is known in Portugal for its traditional sweets made from eggs.
